Historical petrol, diesel and kerosene data
Fuel price information you can understand and verify
Sierra Leone fuel price history by effective date
The Fuel Price History page tracks Sierra Leone petrol, diesel and kerosene prices over time using the effective date of each official price event. This is important because more than one price adjustment can occur in the same month. A timeline based only on month names can hide those changes, while an effective-date timeline preserves the sequence in which new pump prices took effect.
Use the line chart, bar chart and table views to compare historical changes and identify when a particular fuel rose, fell or remained unchanged. The page is designed for both quick public reference and deeper analysis of Sierra Leone’s fuel-pricing history.
How missing prices are handled
A blank, null or zero entry is treated as no price recorded for that fuel on that effective date, not as a real zero-price event. Salone Fuel Monitor does not automatically carry the previous fuel price forward into that date. This prevents a missing value from creating a false fall to NLe 0 or implying that an old price was newly announced.
If the missing fuel price is later added to the same historical record, the chart can display the newly confirmed value while preserving the original effective date. This keeps the historical record accurate without collapsing multiple updates from the same month.
Why fuel price history matters
Historical prices help households and transport users understand how quickly fuel costs are changing. They also give businesses a reference for budgeting, logistics and operating-cost analysis. Journalists and researchers can use the effective-date history to place individual price announcements in a broader trend rather than viewing each change in isolation.

Frequently asked questions
Can Sierra Leone fuel prices change more than once in one month?
Yes. Salone Fuel Monitor keeps separate records by effective date, so multiple official price updates in the same month can appear independently.
Why is there a gap when a fuel price is missing?
A missing or zero entry is treated as no confirmed price for that fuel on that effective date. It is not plotted as NLe 0 and the previous price is not presented as a new value.
Which fuels are included in the historical trends?
The core historical trend view covers petrol, diesel and kerosene when those prices are available in the official price records.
